Product Attributes

A moisture-cured urethane adhesive contains no water. It cures by absorbing available moisture which causes a chemical reaction. This reaction causes the adhesive to turn from a liquid to a solid.

Unopened containers — Do not expose to direct sunlight.
Opened containers — Because this material is a moisture cured
urethane, exposure to atmospheric conditions rapidly diminishes
the pot life of the material. Once exposed, the curing process
cannot be stopped. The curing process can be slowed by placing
a piece of polyethylene film on the surface (in contact with the
unused portion of the adhesive) and replacing the lid making sure
it is tight.

Installation Procedures
Use:Residential, Commercial
 Use For
  • Engineered Hardwood
  • Engineered Parquet Flooring
  • Solid Parquet Flooring
  • 5/16" Solid Hardwood

  • Read hardwood flooring installation instructions before spreading the adhesive.
  • Room and subfloor temperature must be a minimum of 65° F (18° C) for 48 hours prior, during and after installation is complete. Maintain a minimum temperature of 55° F (13° C) thereafter.
Subfloor Preparation:
  • All concrete slabs should be completely cured and dry.
  • Subfloors must be flat to within 1/8" in 6 feet or 3/16" in 10 feet.
  • Fill low spots with a Portland cement based leveling compound with a minimum of 3,000 PSI and allow to dry.
  • All subfloors must be free of all foreign substances as well as concrete admixtures, grease, paint, dirt and alkali salts.
  • Subfloors must be smooth and sound. All loose subfloor must be renailed or properly bonded to create a sound subfloor.
  • If installing over concrete, run a moisture test.

Adhesive Application:
Note: Clean trowel frequently with low odor mineral spirits to prevent adhesive build-up.
  • Spread the adhesive with the recommended trowel.
  • Working time - Do not spread more adhesive than can be covered with wood within 45-60 minutes.
  • Installation of the wood should begin immediately. Working time may vary due to air movement, humidity, subfloor porosity and temperature.
  • Do not allow heavy film to form on adhesives, should this occur, remove the old adhesive and spread fresh adhesive.
  • Press wood into adhesive. Occasionally check the back of a board for adequate adhesive transfer.
  • If rolling is preferred, roll the floor with a 100 lb. roller, DO NOT roll until the adhesive has cured for 2 hours.
  • Avoid foot traffic for 24 hours after installation and furniture placement for 48 hours after installation.
  • Do not apply finishes to unfinished products until adhesive is properly cured.
Do not cover floor for 48 hours (refer to installation instructions for further details).

Clean-Up: Remove adhesive with low odor mineral spirits. Armstrong Equalizer Adhesive is easiest to remove in the wet state. Cured adhesive is more difficult to remove
