Room and subfloor temperature must be a minimum of 65° F (18° C) and 95° F (35° C) with relative humidity between 35% and 55% for 72 hours prior, during and after installation is complete. Maintain a minimum temperature of 55° F (13° C) thereafter. The building must be enclosed with all outside doors and windows in place with permanent or temporary HVAC system in operation.
All concrete slabs should be completely cured and dry.
Wood substrate must have moisture content below 13% using a Tramex moisture meter.
Subfloors must be flat to within 1/8" in 6 feet or 3/16" in 10 feet.
All subfloors must be free of all foreign substances as well as concrete admixtures, grease, paint, dirt and alkali salts. Subfloors must be smooth and sound. All loose subfloor must be renailed or properly bonded to create a sound subfloor.
When installing 3/4" solid hardwood flooring, ensure all planks are straight.
If using Armstrong Summit Select as a moisture/sound barrier and crack isolation membrane (for cracks up to 1/8" in width) in addition to installation, the concrete subfloor must be fully cured (at least 45 days), dry to touch and absorbent (drops of water must penetrate surface within 1 minute), and concrete surface must have a concrete surface profile (CSP) of 1-3. For installations that do not require moisture/sound barrier or crack isolation, the concrete subfloor moisture must be no more than 3 lbs/1,000 ft2/ 24 hours (using a calcium chloride test kit according to ASTM F-1869 test method), and no more than 75%RH (tested in accordance with ASTM F-2170).
Note: The Summit Select application trowel blade included in the pail must be used to apply the moisture barrier and installation coat of adhesive.
Note: For best application, replace the Summit trowel every 200-300 square feet of adhesive applied.
Spread adhesive using recommended trowel.
Installation of the wood should begin immediately.
Press wood into adhesive. Occasionally check the back of a board for 100% adhesive transfer.
Roll floor with 100 lb. roller immediately following installation.
Avoid foot traffic for 16 hours after installation and furniture may be lifted into place after 24 hours.
Do not apply finishes to unfinished products until adhesive is properly cured.
Remove wet adhesive with warm soapy water. If dry remove adhesive with low odor mineral spirits or a solvent based adhesive remover that is compatible with the hardwood manufacturer's finish.
