To repair a deep scratch or gouge, use the following procedure:
- Groove out the scratch or gouge with a hand grooving tool. Groove to a depth 1/2 to 2/3 the thickness of the flooring material. Do not groove completely through the product.
- Using the recommended temperature setting on the welding equipment, weld the grooved area using the matching patterned weld rod.
- Skiving the weld rod should be done in two passes. The first pass should be done using a spatula knife and trim plate while the rod is still warm. The final pass should be made after the rod has completely cooled by holding the spatula knife flush with the flooring.
- Apply sealer and polish as recommended by the flooring manufacturer.
