Board Replacement Near A Wall

Preparation
- Ensure eye protection and mask are donned properly before beginning work.
- Remove any transition pieces
Removal of Damaged Plank
- Using a pull bar, carefully lift first row.
- Disengage from the long sides of the second row.
- Disengage surrounding planks by sliding them apart.
- Number the planks on the back for re-installation.
- Repeat this process on subsequent rows as needed.
Re-Installation
- Begin with the last row that was uninstalled.
- Slide planks together to lock.
- Use a rubber mallet to ensure locks are engaged. Tap along the interlocking point where the new plank butts against the adjacent planks.
- Finish the job by sweeping and cleaning the floor.
Board Replacement Away From Walls
Tools Needed

- Chisel
- Utility Knife

- Latex Joint Adhesive

- 3M 2080 Tape
- Hammer
- Tape Measure
- Circular Saw
Preparation
- This repair will create dust. Ensure eye protection and mask are donned properly before beginning work.
Removal of Damaged Plank
- Apply tape around the corners of board being replaced.
- Use a framing square, draw angled lines into the corners.
- Use any straight edge to draw line down center.
- Set circular saw to the thickness of the plank using a scrap piece.
- Cut along lines.
- Thoroughly clean the area of debris.
- Use a sharp chisel to finish the cuts into the corners of the plank. Lift out the long pieces first. Then lift the remaining triangle pieces.
- Remove tape. Clean the area of debris.
Preparation and Installation of Replacement Plank
- Use a sharp utility knife to remove the long tongue side.
- Save the short and long groove sides.
- Remove groove corners at 45 degree angles.
- Dry lay plank to ensure fit.
- Apply a small bead of latex adhesive to exposed grooves of existing installed plank.
- Apply a small bead of latex adhesive to exposed grooves of replacement plank.
- Slide the short end under the tongue of existing installed plank, then fit the long edge into place.
- Use a tapping block and soft rubber mallet to fit into place.
- Clean any adhesive with a damp rag or towel.
- Weight the plank for recommended cure time and restrict traffic.
- Finish the job by sweeping and cleaning the floor.
