Recommended Substrates
Will bond to all structurally sound, dry and smooth wall surfaces: listed below but refer to flooring installation system for specific installation recommendations:
- Wood, plywood
- Plaster
- Dry concrete and concrete block
- Brick
- Gypsum drywall (Sheetrock)
- Abraded plastic laminate
- Fiberglass paneling which has been lightly sanded
- Metal and glazed surfaces that have been abraded
- Cured and well-bonded paint on walls (paint must be cured for 30 days).
DO NOT USE OVER: Concrete with excessive moisture and/or alkali; substrates treated with fire-retardant chemicals, fungicides, preservatives, release agents, adhesive removers, sealers, curing compounds or other incompatible treatments. Stir well before using.
Application Instructions
- Using a paint brush or 3/8” nap roller, apply a liberal coat of S-581 to the cove area, cove stick and approximately 4” on to the floor avoiding any drips, runs or puddles.
- Allow to dry to a pressure-sensitive state, dry to the touch without any transfer to the fingertips (approximately 20-30 minutes).
- Apply a second coat of S-581 in the same manner as the first.
- When the 2nd coat of adhesive is dry to the touch, with no transfer to the fingertips, flooring material is then able to be placed.
- S-581 has a working time of 12 hours, however jobsite conditions will affect the working time. Limit any jobsite dust or airborne contaminants as this will adversely affect the adhesive performance
