Armstrong Flooring Stain Removal Options for Residential Vinyl Floors

Crayon, Lipstick, Mercurochrome, Mustard, Driveway Sealer

  1. Apply Armstrong New Beginning liberally to the stained area
  2. Allow the New Beginning to soak on the area for 5 minutes
  3. Scrub with a nonabrasive white pad to remove
  4. Rinse thoroughly
  5. Repeat if necessary

Grape Juice, Paint, Black Heel Marks

  1. Dilute 3 oz. of Armstrong Once ‘n Done in a gallon of warm water
  2. Scrub the area with the diluted Once ‘n Done and a nonabrasive white pad
  3. If the stain still remains liberally apply Armstrong New Beginning to the area and allow to soak for 5 minutes
  4. Scrub with a nonabrasive white pad to remove the stain
  5. Rinse thoroughly
  6. Repeat if necessary

Pen Ink, Permanent Marker, Nail Polish, Hair Dye

  1. Dilute 3 oz. of Armstrong Once ‘n Done in a gallon of warm water
  2. Scrub the area with the diluted Once ‘n Done and a nonabrasive white pad
  3. If the stain still remains, liberally apply Armstrong New Beginning to the area and allow to soak for 5 minutes
  4. Scrub with a nonabrasive white pad to remove the stain
  5. Rinse thoroughly
  6. If the stain still remains, rub the stain with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)* on a clean, white cloth
  7. Repeat if necessary

Shoe Polish

  1. Rub the stain with mineral spirits* or turpentine* on a clean, white cloth.
  2. If stain still shows, rub the stain with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)* on a clean, white cloth.
  3. Scrub the area with Armstrong New Beginning Floor Stripper and Cleaner** and a nonabrasive white scrubbing pad, following instructions on the label.

Paint/Varnish

  1. If paint stain is wet, wipe up the stain with water on a clean, white cloth.
  2. If paint stain is dry, carefully scrape residue with a thin spatula.
  3. If stain still shows, rub the stain with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)* on a clean, white cloth.
  4. If stain still shows, use mineral spirits* or turpentine* on a clean, white cloth.
  5. If stain still shows, very carefully wipe with fingernail polish remover* containing acetone on a clean, white cloth.
  6. Scrub the area with Armstrong New Beginning Floor Stripper and Cleaner** and a nonabrasive white scrubbing pad, following instructions on the label.

Rust

  1. Apply Armstrong New Beginning Floor Stripper and Cleaner** to the stain and let it stand for five minutes. Scrub vigorously with a stiff-bristle brush or nonabrasive white scrubbing pad, wipe, rinse, and let dry.
  2. If traces remain, rub with a soft cloth dipped in a solution of oxalic acid and water (1 part acid to 10 parts water). NOTE: Please follow instructions and cautions on label, as oxalic acid is poisonous.
