Application Instructions
The Bruce Touch-Up Kit allows you to repair most accidents and restore the original beauty to your floor quickly and easily. For successful repairs, keep the repair area as small as possible. Use your kit to repair scratches, nicks and chips on floors, trims, and moldings.
To repair scratches and nicks:
1. Preparation
For urethane hardwood finishes and laminate or vinyl flooring:
- Wipe damaged area with Bruce Hardwood & Laminate or Bruce Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner (not included in kit)
For hardwood wax finishes
- Lightly sand damaged area with sanding pad provided.
DO NOT SAND LAMINATE OR VINYL FLOORING!
NOTE: Deep scratches that cut into hardwood flooring may need to be sanded lightly with 100 grit sandpaper. Follow with 220 grit sandpaper. (Not included in kit).
2A. Staining
For light scratches
Activate Marker following label directions.
- Starting with a lighter color, apply stain onto damaged area.
- Progress to the darker color in the kit if necessary.
- Wipe excess using a clean (dry or damp) cloth. (Not included in kit).
- For some colors, several applications of color may be necessary to achieve desired results.
- Allow stain to dry thoroughly.
2B. Filler
For deep scratches or gouges
- Select closest matching color and test small area to ensure a good match*
- Once desired color is selected, rub Filler Stick over area to be filled.
Fill gouge or crack with Filler Stick. Remove excess from surface of flooring using a clean cloth or Bruce plastic scraper card and a small amount of odorless mineral spirits (not included in kit).
*Visit www.floorexpert.com to find which Filler Stick matches your Bruce, Hartco, Robbins, Capella, or tmbr. floor.
3. If necessary for matte finish, use Finishing Marker
Activate Marker following label directions.
- Cover shiny areas using long strokes
- Multiple coats may be needed to get best results
