Warranty

When used with recommended Armstrong Flooring products, the Strong System™ adds 10 years to the Armstrong Commercial Flooring Limited Warranty.

Substrate Preparation

All surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, and free of dirt, oil, grease, wax, plaster, curing compounds, old adhesive residues* and other foreign matter that may act as a bond breaker. Concrete floors must be tested for porosity in accordance with ASTM F-3191 and be free of excess moisture and/or alkali. Always refer to the Armstrong Flooring Guaranteed Installation System Manual, F-5061.

 *Some previously manufactured asphaltic “cutback” adhesives contain asbestos. For removal instructions, refer to the Resilient Floor Covering Institute’s publication Recommended Work Practices for Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings.

Application Instructions

Shake or stir S-464 Prime Strong™ prior to diluting. For application on cement based substrates and standard absorbent concrete; dilute 1:1 (1 part primer to 1 part water, by volume).  Apply evenly to substrate, using soft bristle push broom, paintbrush or brush. Brush off any puddles or excess primer. Allow to dry to a thin non-re-emulsifiable film prior to applying patches or floor covering.

For application on gypsum-based substrates and highly absorbent concrete; dilute 1:3 (1 part primer to 3 parts water, by volume).  Allow to dry thoroughly (1 to 3 hours).  Apply a second application diluted 1:1 (1 part primer to 1 part water, by volume).

Test the applied primer for dryness by sprinkling small amounts of water on various locations throughout the application area.  If the water remains clear after agitating, the primer is dry.
